Research Activities

Composer, improviser, saxophonist. PhD in Arts from the University of São Paulo – USP. He leads the  Research Group: Improvisation, Creativity and Musical Cognition . Permanent Professor of the PostgraduateProgram   in Music at  UNICAMP . Permanent professor in the  Postgraduate Program in Music  at Unicamp. Member of the  University Culture Council  – ConCult and CAI/CONSU Representative. Coordinator of the NICS - Interdisciplinary Nucleus of Sound Studies.

IMPROVISATION, CREATIVITY AND MUSICAL COGNITION
Large area of ​​study that encompasses research on musical performance, creative processes in contemporary musical practices, development of specific skills, incorporated and expanded cognition, improvised creation with technological support.

IMPROVISED MUSIC ANALYSIS
Specialized area in developing, expanding and experimenting specific analysis methodologies for improvised music, using technological support, involving interdisciplinarity with other areas of knowledge.

BRAZILIAN IMPROVISATION AND DECOLONIAL STUDIES
Decolonial studies provide a form of understanding that can currently be considered essential for the critical study of cultural manifestations in South America. Especially in Brazilian music, it becomes the operation to unveil the creative vectors that present themselves beyond established narratives.
