Atividades de Pesquisa
Research activities focus on understanding cell communication as a crucial mechanism for uncovering the molecular basis of diseases. This includes cell signaling through molecules or extracellular vesicles, which contribute to altering cellular responses that play a key role in disease development. By utilizing in vitro models and molecular biology techniques, the research integrates biochemistry and tissue biology to explore tumor cell communities, primarily composed of tumor cells and platelets.

Dr. Faria became fascinated by biochemistry and cancer research since her studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Campinas, granted with best undergraduate student "Prêmio Paulo Minami" - CRF-SP. She did her Master's and Ph.D. in Biochemistry, at the same university, and a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine at the Erasmus University Medical Center in the Netherlands. Her Brazilian PhD thesis was selected to run the first round at CAPES Thesis Award 2021 at the Institute of Biology - University of Campinas. Dr. Faria has expertise in cancer cell metabolism and signaling transduction, platelet biology, solid tumor biology, pre-metastatic stages, and hallmarks of cancer, and she had worked as a researcher at the University of Helsinki and the University of Campinas. Nowadays, Dr. Faria is Assistant Professor at Faculdade Israelita de Ciências da Saúde Albert Einstein, and Assistant Professor at University of Campinas (Tissue Biology).
