Acoustic Signal ProcessingSound plays a major role in our daily lives and my research interests comprise the broad field of analyzing, synthesizing, and controlling sound fields for various purposes.
I am researching new sparsity-aware array processing algorithms to improve the quality of acoustic images extracted from microphone array measurements. I am also applying these techniques to enhance the in situ characterization of acoustic materials, which leads to better acoustics models.
I investigate several aspects of binaural hearing and spatial audio reproduction, used to produce acoustic impressions in VR/AR applications fueled by the same aforementioned acoustic models. A key aspect in this area of research is to understand how humans perceive spatial sounds, determining the minimum requirements for such systems
